Chapter 7 President on Corn Picking Day
I hope everyone is having an exciting summer. I know I’ve been working on projects that I didn’t get finished this past winter. I also participated in the Cross Indiana Tractor Drive sponsored by the Brown County Antique Machinery Association. My 1954 Farmall Super H made the 200 miles with no problem and averaged 9.4 MPG. We travel from Ohio (Richmond) to Illinois (West Terre Haute) in 3 days stopping along the way to see antique machinery collections, a historic barn, etc. an enjoying the many sites along the route.
A reminder our scholarship applications are due by August 1st. All children and grandchildren of an active Chapter 7 member are eligible to apply. We will be awarding two $1,000 scholarships this year. Mail all applications to Randy Barrett 9611 E. ST. Rd. 46 Bloomington, IN 47401.
If you have not paid your dues please take time out to send them to Emmett Webb PO Box 371 Dublin, IN 47335.
We had the opportunity to attend the Red Power Round Up in Des Moines, IA hosted by Chapter 5 this past June. A lot of displays, activities, and tours were provided for us to enjoy.
Our third quarter meeting will be at our state show in Lanesville on Saturday September 9th with the time to be posted at the show. Remember we will be electing 6 directors. If anyone is interested in being a director please contact one of our officers or directors, The Lanesville Heritage Festival runs three days September 8-10 and is located just off Interstate 64 west of New Albany. The Heritage Festival is a community festival that has activities during the day and every night and has a very large parade on Saturday. Make your plans to be there. There should be a large display of IH trucks, tractors, and equipment. Harrison County and the surrounding area had many IH dealerships during the early years through the 1980's. Today there is still a large IH truck and Case IH dealership.
A special note: . Several of our directors have indicated that the plan to retire from their directorship this year so we need members to step up. We have only four meeting each year plus an extra activity once in a while. If you would be interested please contact one of your directors or me.
On October 7th will be our plow day at the Bob DeVault Farms 3200 State Road 28E Lafayette, IN 47909 with a rain date of October 14th. After lunch we will have our fourth quarter meeting. We plan to have Ham and Beans and Chili for lunch if you would like to bring a covered dish or goodies that would be great.
Thanks for being a member of Chapter 7. You are the ones who help keep our International Harvester Heritage alive for the future generations.
Hope to see you soon!
