2011 CHAPTER 7 TILLAGE DAY
MINUTES
The fourth quarter meeting was held on October 29, 2011 at Yoar’s Farm in Bunker Hill. Randy Barrett opened the meeting and welcomed everyone. He thanked John and Jim and the Yoar family for hosting and the church ladies for preparing lunch. He introduced all officers and directors.
The secretary’s report was given by Dawn Dieckmann. Bob Off made a motion to approve the minutes as read, seconded by Tom Smith, motion carried. The treasurer’s report was submitted by Rosemary Zeller. A motion to accept was made by Neil Michel, seconded by Bob Gunn, motion carried. Rosemary also reported that we received a thank you letter from the Archives for our donation.
Emmett Webb submitted a membership report by email. We currently have 19 unpaid members.
Pam Smith asked for contributions for the newsletter. She would like to have more personal articles and pictures. Don’t forget that you can also list items for free in the classifieds.
Mark Dieckmann reported on the Chapter table. We have a Tractor Mac plate set that would make a great Christmas gift. We also have so new fabric available. If you have any ideas for new items, please contact Mark.
The ballot for National Directors will be in the next Harvester Highlights. Please be sure to vote.
The first quarter meeting for 2012 will be on January 29th, at Jonathon Byrd’s in Greenwood. There will be a Director’s meeting at 11.
Max Favourite has registration forms for the winter Tractor and Engine show in Ft. Wayne. All exhibits must pre-register. Set up will be March 29, and exhibits cannot leave the facility until Sunday.
The 2012 state show will be in Elnora on September 6 – 9. There is still camping available, but electric is limited. There are plenty of primitive sites.
We need a site for our 2012 second quarter meeting. We could have it at Ft. Wayne, they do have space available. We could have another breakfast with the Daleville Lions Club. We could also look for a show featuring IH. We will decide on a location at the first quarter meeting.
We also need a host for the 2012 tillage day. We will not be able to co-host with Chapter 33, because it will not work with their crop rotation. It may be possible to go to Gatewood Farms. Bob Off will contact Wilson and we will decide on a location at the first quarter meeting.
Randy Barrett presented Tom Smith with a plaque to thank him for his years of service to Chapter 7.
We are exploring the possibility of hosting the National Auction in 2013. Marty Theime will contact Chuck Heck to found out what the guidelines are and report back to the group. Randy set up a committee to help Marty. It will consist of Tom Smith, Neil Michel, and Bob Off.
Randy Barrett asked if anyone would be interested in sponsoring/leading a tractor drive across Indiana. This event would not be sponsored/hosted by Chapter 7.
We previously discussed doing something to help an FFA Club. We need to get this going. Bob Off suggested making a donation to FFA and not just one Chapter. Mark Dieckmann suggested making a donation to their scholarship program. Randy will get the committee previously set up together, and try to come up with a plan.
Steve Butram reported that he tried to make a camping reservation for the 2012 RPRU, and was told that they will not be taking reservations until January 1st.
A motion to adjourn was made by Tom Smith, seconded by Jim Yoars. Motion carried.
Respectfully submitted by:
Dawn Dieckmann
